Downtown Denver Activities

Nights and weekends spent at home are officially overrated. Why would you spend your time on the couch when there’s so much to experience right at your fingertips? There are so many downtown Denver activities that are yet to be discovered, whether you’re new in town or you’ve explored the city too many times to count. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, the Mile High City drops something in your lap that pushes you out of your comfort zone and makes you learn something new about yourself and the city. So what’re you waiting for? Here are some of the best places to start on your expedition through the city.

Larimer Square

Denver is rich in historical landmarks, and they’re not all simple statues and old buildings. Larimer Square is where the Mile High City was born, and it’s described as its oldest and most historic portion of the city. Local boutiques and trendy restaurants have made their home in the square and make for an enjoyable day out with both family and friends. At night, canopy lights hang over the street to provide a wondrous, enchanting atmosphere, and the energetic bar and club scene offer a fun-filled evening on the town with a vintage vibe only Denver can give.

Denver Aquarium

The beauty of marine life is always something people are amazed by, and the best place to experience the underwater kingdom is the Denver Aquarium. Featuring floor-to-ceiling viewing and presentations displaying aquatic animals and even advertising a mermaid show, the aquarium is a perfect downtown Denver activity for all ages. There’s even an exhibit where you can experience five species of sharks up close and personal in an underwater shark cage! You’ll never run out of excitement or adventures to discover at the Denver Aquarium. Tickets and passes are available both online and on-site.

Escape Rooms

Denver has become the home of a myriad of escape rooms, each with a unique premise and design. Facilities across the town have created whimsical rooms, or creepy ones, or themes that are just straight up weird, and being able to experience all of them is incredible. But if you want an all-around fantastic escape room that’s focused on teamwork and good experiences, visit EscapeWorks, one of the most prestigious escape rooms in Denver. They’ve carefully curated and designed five different rooms for you to immerse yourself in, so all you need to do is decide which one you want to try out! You can reserve a special timeslot on their website or by calling in and speaking directly to an employee.

review rating 5  Went here as a small group recently and had a great time. Instructions from the staff were pretty clear at the beginning and helpful in their instructions in explaining how to try to solve the room. Trace was a great guide for this experience and would happily go again.

  • review rating 5  Came here for my birthday and it was a blast! Super nice people. We did the Casino Heist and it was definitely challenging but they did give us clues along the way. Can’t wait to go back!

review rating 4  Went for a work function, we absolutely had fun but it was really hot in the room and different than i had expected. A big part of the escape was putting together numbers from different "hints". I don't regret going, but I'm not sure i would go again.

  • review rating 5  My fiancee and I were vacationing in Denver and tried out the Egyptian Tomb with another group of 4. We escaped with 5 minutes to spare! Very good room layout and good props. Puzzles were challenging and rewarding once solved. I was not a huge fan of how they did the hints... usually you have 3 hints or whatever and you ask for a hint when you get stuck, instead they give you hints when they think you need it. Otherwise, our game master, Trace, was very helpful and personable. Overall, very satisfied with our experience!
